Preventive Maintenance for Laser Printers

Laser printer preventive maintenance on a regular basis is required to provide users with high quality prints on a reliable basis. It also extends the life of the printer and is required by the printer manufacturers.

The preventive maintenance program developed by AmeriComp Imaging Solutions is the most comprehensive on the market. Our Hewlett Packard Certified Service Technicians are specially trained in preventive maintenance techniques and take pride in their work.

Proposal

It is proposed that each laser printer receive preventive maintenance twice a year on a not-to-interfere schedule.

Procedure

After receiving approval from the user (every consideration will be given to not disturbing the workplace), each laser printer will receive the following preventive maintenance actions:

1. Run test print to detect any imaging problem(s)
2. Determine page count for aging analysis
3. Power down and open printer
4. Remove installed toner cartridge and fuser wand, if applicable
5. Vacuum the following internal printer areas:
   a. Lower paper guide plate
   b. Transfer guide plate
   c. Corona transfer assembly
   d. Static eliminator assembly
   e. Feeder guide transfer tray
   f. Separation/feeder guide assembly
   g. Fusing assembly
   h. Cartridge gear drive assembly
   i. Transfer assembly
6. Clean the following internal areas with felt or liquid cleaner:
   a. Discharging pins
   b. Corona wire/transfer station
   c. Fusing roller assembly
   d. Fixing roller assembly
   e. Separation claws and guide
7. Visually inspect all areas of the printer
8. Insert/replace toner cartridge and fuser wand, if applicable.
9. Close and power up printer
10. Run 2 copies of test print
11. Complete printer status report (copy attached)
12. Verify acceptance of test print with user
13. Discuss printer status report with customer

4. Cotton swab/felt cleaners
